Google Search Console is a free tool that lets you see how the Google search engine views your website. This is useful for improving your search rankings and fixing any problems with your website. Here are the basic steps to set up Google Search Console for your website, and access it via the Yoast plugin. It’s a prerequisite that you have Google Analytics already set up for your website to allow Google to verify that you own the site you want to set up with Google Search Console. And that you have installed the Yoast plugin.
Yoast SEO is a renowned SEO plugin allows you to connect your website to Google Search Console (Formerly Google Webmaster Tools). And through this, you can track how Google is indexing your website.
Begin by Setting Up Your Site In Google Search Console
Just sign into Google Search Console (former Google Webmaster Tools) with your Google(Gmail) account. If you don’t have Google account, you need to create this first. Click on the red button to add your website.
Once you’ve clicked the button to add your site, just type your website’s URL in the box. Click the blue button to add and make sure, you enter the complete url. For example, if your site url is http://example.com, it needs to be that exact url. If your site uses WWW or is using the HTTPS it needs to include it. If you are not actually sure about what your site has, please speak with your host provider.
The next step is to prove to Google that you own your site. GSC offers a number of methods for verifying your site, but the best option is via Alternate Methods tab. Click on the tab and get the code. Now you copy the code that is in the parenthesis after content, as it is shown below in the image.
Log in to your WordPress website. When you’re logged in, you will be in your ‘Dashboard’. On the left-hand side, you will find “SEO” menu. Just click on the SEO menu.
This ‘SEO’ settings will expand providing some additional options. And with this additional options, you just click on ‘Dashboard’.
Here in this step, you’ve to click on the ‘Webmaster Tools’ tab and simply add the code under ‘Google Search Console’ blank box. And click ‘Save Changes’.
Now switch back to Google Search Console (formerly Google Webmaster Tools) and click on ‘Verify’ button. (See image in Step 3)
Congratulations! Now you’ve connected your website to Google Search Console (former Google Webmaster Tools)! And at this time, you’ve verified and connected your website with Google, that’s excellent. You are now permitted to submit your sitemap!
